The Lord giveth and He taketh away and in my fickled existence He also taketh away then He giveth it back. Make sense? No, I didn’t think so. Well, let me explain…
A Lose-Lose Situation
In February of this year, my beloved Pittsburgh Steelers lost Super Bowl XLV (45) to the Green Bay Packers. My team lost but I won money on the office pool. It was just enough to go to Photoshop World Orlando 2011 in March but right before I finalized plans, my air-conditioning unit started spitting out fluid like someone had opened up the Hoover Dam flood gates. My winnings (and more) eventually paid for burned-out wires, parts, and freon replacement in said unit.
Fast forward to Saturday August 13th. I was on my way to a photography meetup at a local carnival but as I passed my laundry room I heard a hissing sound. Yes, you guessed it: water, water, everywhere! Two days and a whole wad of money later, the new water heater was in place and I could finally take a shower.
A Loser Never Wins?
About an hour after the plumber left I received an email from Kelby Media Group: “Congratulations! You have been selected as the winner for episode #86 of D-Town TV.” You see, that same very morning that my water heater broke, I had posted a comment on D-Town TV as I usually do, however, this time they actually chose me. And instead of their usual signed books or small camera gear giveaways I won a full-conference pass to Photoshop World Las Vegas 2011!
Thank You Lord!
Yes, money may be tight right now but… This Is The Year. I’m Going!
Congratulations Danielle! What a story. I’m sorry for your string of bad luck lately, but also glad that you’re going. I hope that you enjoy yourself.
Thanks Phillip, it’s been great here at PSW! Adobe Carousel and Nik Software Color Efex Pro 4 were announced and demoed. I like being one of the first people to see new technology and software come alive.
It was nice meeting you at PSW; hope to see you again in DC.
It was great meeting you as well, Tanya. I’ll be at the PSW DC 2012 but in the meanwhile I’ll chat with you in the NAPP forums
your photography isn’t that good. I hoped PSW helped you.
